Training of Trainers on Electoral Processes in Tanzania

On November 4, 2024, TANLAP, with support from the USAID-funded Wananchi Tuamue (Let’s Decide) project, held a comprehensive Training of Trainers workshop on electoral and democratic processes in Dodoma, Tanzania. The workshop, hosted at the African Dream Hotel, gathered 15 dedicated participants from various regions of Tanzania mainland, aiming to strengthen their capacities in delivering impactful voter education and election observation.

Training for Journalists

On November 7, 2024, TANLAP, in collaboration with the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), and the Government Spokesperson’s Office, conducted a comprehensive training session for journalists. The training targeted media professionals from the President’s Office – TAMISEMI, along with 117 journalists representing 91 national and community media outlets across the country. The session was held at African Dream Hotel in Dodoma.

Advocates Trained to Support Local Government Elections

On November 9, 2024, the Tanzania Network of Legal Aid Providers (TANLAP) conducted specialized training for 26 advocates from various regions of Tanzania. The training aimed to enhance their capacity to handle cases related to the upcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for November 27, 2024. Led by retired Judge Hon. Robert Makaramba, the sessions focused on preparing these legal professionals to provide legal assistance to communities in election-related cases. Judge Makaramba urged the advocates to apply their expertise in safeguarding constitutional rights and promoting the growth of democracy in the country

CSOs Training

On November 11, 2024, TANLAP conducted a specialized training session for 56 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) focused on the legal frameworks governing local government elections and the overall electoral process. The training aimed to empower CSOs with in-depth knowledge of the laws and regulations that ensure fair, transparent, and effective election procedures. Participants gained insights into the electoral process from a legal perspective, equipping them to better support their communities with accurate information and to advocate for democratic practices during the upcoming elections.
